what happens when you run say a 350 straight off the headers? other than being louder than i dont know what. is that bad for the engine?

Burnt up valves is what i hear. Ive had buddies that have ran straight headers for over a year and never had a problem so i dunno.

iv'e run the k5 i used to have, to work then afterwards to the muffler show once straight off headers. i know all about the noise. sounded like i was hangin out with a pit crew at a race hahaha was just curious if it was bad to run it for a long period of time like that. i.e. a bomber for around the woods...

i just put hookers on my blazer today and ran it around town.....Man id love to leave it like that. To me it seems to have a bit more bottom end, but i dunno.

My rig is just a woods bomber (more like a nuke than a bomb...) and I run headers with 2-1/4" turn downs. Other than being really loud and the occasional gurgle from submurging it under water it doesn't seem to mind. I've done more than a few full throttle pulls with it and it's still completely stock. The trees and shrubbery don't really like me too much for singing their leaves but I seem to remember smokey the bear saying "you can prevent forest fires" so I hope all of YOU are doing your jobs so I don't have to put mufflers on anytime soon.

i've run without headers before, just to see what would happen. no ill effects. i can see the potential for warping the valves if you were to drive it like that, but we didnt even put it in gear. was kinda neat watching the exhaust valves dance.
