Well, we didn't have a big enough turnout to cover the mass expenses we incurred trying to get the even all up and going, but it was fun anyway.

One whole weekend of mud races and an obstacle course. I got to run 3 rigs and a total of 12 times (4 runs a piece)... 4 times in which I got stuck.

I also am seeing more and more that my 396 needs some freshening up, as I was the only one leaving a smoke cloud every time I'd get the truck blazer turning some higher RPM's.

Here are the preliminary behind the scenes shots:

My motorhome and older Dave's motorhome... stopped at Wal-Mart on the way up, getting supplies.

Hell yeah that looks like great fun man /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

Maybe I'll have to make it down for one of those sometime.

How come not enough people showed up? What expenses did you have to pay for? Looks fun /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

Re: Expensive but fun weekend

Had to pay for the following: Equipment rental to completely re-do the pits (level them out, square them up, and also move dirt around for the obstacle course), trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for 6 classes in mud and 3 classes in obstacle, T-shirts for all volunteers and helpers, more fencing and flagging tape/ribbon, portable outhouse rental, and other misc.

Last year we spent a total of $1800 and got back about $1900. We had probably 8-10 more rigs enter last year, who ended up being broke down, out of racing, or just didn't get word in time about this years race date.

Then there are all the others who didn't show just plain out cause gas costs too much.

I wanted to be prepared for more, so we needed about 50 more total people and 10 more rigs entering to break even, and we got about that many less than last year instead. So I might try to have another one this year with minimal expenses to try and get more money back to pay for things.

Sounds like a plan /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Ohhh... I never thought about that stuff... I guess in the end it always adds up. Sounds like a fun event though /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Atleast your pits are all pretty much set up. It's a bummer to hear about the finacial loss though. Maybe I'll have money again in August to come up. I might have to enter. My engine will be broke in by then for sure.
