so my mentor has this '95 chev truck with a worn out door. his inside handle won't open the door any more, and isn't really spring loaded. obviously something's come loose, and i bet it would be easy to diagnose if he could figure out how to remove the door panel. at the bottom of the door, is it snaps or screws? i didn't want to pull too hard and ruin the door panel if it were bolted in. he removed the screws that are hidden near the top, but i couldn't see how to get to a fastener at the bottom... ideas? thanks.

thought it was all snaps. They changed the door panel design in '95 and mines a 94 or i'd help. I could check out my dads truck tomorrow but i'll guess and say you'll have figured it out by then :doah:

they are snaps, and the handle is broken, you can get them at gm, or in the dorman section at your parts house.

They are plastic butthole plugs that break off almost every time. Get enough replacment butthole plugs for the whole door. There is a screw behind the red reflector thing as well. Remove the triangle peice on the doors a-pillar. If it has power windows and lock you need to carefully pry that pannel out and unplug them. Theres screws under there, as well as in the arm rest. The butthole plugs: start at the outside edge and pull out you will feel where they are use a screw driver and pry as close to them as you can.
once its all loose you have to pull the bottom out then lift up to detatch it from the window seal. It is easier to do withthe window down.

Once inside you have to drill rivits out from around the door handle and replace them with nuts and bolts on the new handle. Once you get the new handle you will see what rivits to drill out. You may want to get the clips that retain the rods as well I broke mine and used garbage bag twist ties to keep the rods in their respective holes.:doah: so far so good on that little bit of redneck engineering.

you have to be real careful takin off the panel. its pretty much all snap pieces but they break real easy. my drive side door handle broke loose after a while and i had to replace it fairly simple though just pick one up at a local parts store
