Explain velocity stack???

I have seen them used as spacers under typical 14" chrome air cleaners as well.
small block Fords with electronic ignition large dist caps cannot fit a low profile 14" aircleaner
I used an expensive FordMotorsports 13" aircleaner on my 85 5.0 but I have seen the velocity stack used to clear them with a hood scoop for clearance

It helps at all flow rates by increasing a ratio called the 'Reynolds Number' (a dimensionless ratio used to model flow properties of fluids) by helping the incoming flow transition from the surrounds to a laminar flow through the venturi's ie a non-turbulent flow.

Which means marginally better flow with the effects greater as flow velocity increases,... low rpm = low gains (relatively) and high rpm = larger gains.

Good to do.

mudjunkie, you just can't resist posting pictures of that engine can you? Of course, none of us blame you, as we are all pretty much just jealous. /forums/images/graemlins/bow.gif

That is one bling bling blower! Who needs the "supercharged effect" of having stacks when you already have a real supercharger!? /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

The blower is a Mooneyham 12-71, The stacks provide better air flow into the carbs.that = more H.p. you can never have too much /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

Definately the quote of the day! /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

Ha-ha /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif The blower is polished Aluminum (spelling?)it is easier to clean than a cast blower housing. The stacks will only be there until my duct is made.we are fabbing a box to go on the carbs with a 6" hose that would connect to the fire wall for fresh are instead of the air cleaners now. They work ok. but the pre- filters plug too easy in the Mudd.

I bet that scoop on your Blower packed full of mudd won't get you home either /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

sprint cars run stacks with an air filter, they have one per cylinder, (or at least the one i used to work on did)Might want to look into the setup the use on sprint cars, but that use a mechanical injection system, but you might be able to adatp somthing to fit /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif
