Maybe someone can help me out. I tried looking through the part number thread for this but couldn't find the exact answer I was looking for.

For an '85 half ton (10 bolt axle) with a 4" lift, what stock brake lines from another truck would work on the front? Mine aren't working too good anymore and they were too short after I lifted it anyway. I've heard that the brake lines off a 2wd from the same year would be the right length and would work, but I want to hear from someone who knows for sure. I don't actually know what length I need (26" maybe?). I just know that I don't want to spend over $100 for some aftermarket stainless lines when I could just go to the parts store and get some stock ones that will work.

What say you?

I dont know which stock ones will fit, but custom SS flex lines aren't expensive as you might think.

A local shop here will make you custom DOT approved vinyl protected stainless steel lines with new fittings, any length for $65...thats for all 3 lines. Just bring the old ones in for reference, you choose the vinyl color you want and they're done in 30 minutes. SS flex lines also make the brake pedal feel much firmer as well. I always hated the squishy feeling with the stock rubber lines.

That's cool. I wonder if there are any shops like that in my area. Is it a chain or a locally owned operation? Do they have a website? Maybe they could make me some that are the same as they've made for another customer with a similar truck and ship them to me. $65 for all three sounds great.

We have a few vendors who make similar setups.

Well its a local shop, privately owned called "G&J Aircraft". Though other shops seem to have around the same price. Check out any shops local to you that deal with hydraulic hoses, call and ask if they can do automotive brake hoses and if they are DOT approved. The kits you buy online are more expensive because its convenient and ready to bolt on.

You can gain several more inches if you move your lines below the frame rail.

I already did that with some little sheet metal pieces, but now the lines need replacing and I figured I would just go ahead and get some extended ones. I never have liked the spaced-down setup. It just looks like it could get messed up. It probably wouldn't, but it still looks bad to me.

No problem bubba.
I decided to change my master cylinder while I was at it. I had one fail on me before and don't want to experience that again.
