Just put on a 4" rough country lift, and after doing some research here picked up a set of 2wd C1500 lines from the local auto parts store. Both ends are the correct size and the lines a the perfect length, but the block at the caliper end is square, and the stock lines are round with a little ear that sticks in between two raised ribs on the caliper to keep it from turning. I know, just get ORD lines........well not everyone's wife buys into the "honey I need this", but brakes aren't something I want to take a chance with. The pictures of extended brake lines (Russell, Rough Country, Pro Comp, etc) that are listed as fitting my sub all have square ends. Anybody got any advice? Are the square ends ok to run although there is nothing to keep the block from turning (outside of tightening the heck out of the banjo)?

Thanks.

Sure, it's okay to run, and don't overtorque the banjo. If it was loose enough to turn the fitting, you'd have a leak anyway and would know about it in short order. In a bad way.

As long as the square end fits, run with it, easy peasy.

I do have a vague memory of having fitment issues once. I think I chose to clearance the caliper a bit with a grinder or a cutoff wheel (after plugging the hole with a spare appropriately-threaded bolt) rather than bugger up the square end on the brake line.

Not sure if this helps But think this is the way I might go.

with having a small lift (compared to most) I felt I did not need the extra long extanded stainless steel brake hoses offered forlifted trucks and frankly i didnt want to pay that price either. after searching the forums for a bit I came across a couple options and what seem to be the best was this one.

THe stock brake hose for the front calipers is 19" long. the new one I chose is 25" long, a nice additional length. The Hose I am using is for a 1991 Chevy C3500 with a 5.7 and is a Napa #38872 and was $13.49 each. There was nothing showing this line to be left or right so I ordered two of them. They fit perfectly. The suspension is sitting on jack stands on the axle so its sitting a rough idea of a ride height.

I am sure you have come across this brake hose in your searches but I thought I would add some pics to the info.

Thanks for the response and pics. I did come across those, and they are similar to the ones I picked up, except the ones I used have the metal extension off the block similar to the old lines. Looks like yours doesn't fit tight in the bracket where it connects to the hard line. That's one place mine fits like the stock line. They have a flange just like the originals and fit tight when you slide the C over the back of the bracket. I'll post a pic and part numbers tonight when I get home. After looking at them again last night, I'm going to run them. I don't think they're going anywhere.
