Extended front shocks mount help

I think I’m doing something wrong here and am probably over thinking it. Extended length is 26” eye to eye, compressed length is 16” eye to eye. Mid stroke is 21” eye to eye. Truck is sitting on jack stands but should still be at ride height. Attached is a picture of the shock mocked up. Am I seriously going to have to cut 85% of this extended shock mount off or am I doing something wrong? Seems like kind of a waste to me and I’m only gaining an extra inch or two over the stock mount. Which by the way, this new mount lands right on top of the bump out on the frame for the stock mount so that’s going to suck to flatten out. I’m using the ORD bilsteins and their extended front shock mounts.

It almost looks like you're trying to make the shock fully compressed at ride height, so the mount will definitely need to move up. It is normal to cut off the bottom of the Stupid Doodie shock mount and drill new mounting holes in it. How much to cut off is the question. The exhaustive approach is to fully cycle the suspension without any shocks and take a bunch of measurements, but with only 10" shocks, you'll need to limit travel up and down with something other than the shock. A bump stop like that can probably compress a few inches on a hard hit (at least a few times before it breaks...), so include that in your calculations of how much stuff vs droop you want.

Why not run 12" shocks? Have you evaluated what your front driveshaft will have to do?

That shock is setup at 21” which is mid stroke and the truck is at ride height so it should be close. Which is why I’m scratching my head thinking something is wrong. Looks like I’ve got a long night ahead with a jack and tape measure.
 
Make the shock 1" from full collapse when your suspension is at full bump. You will have more droop then bump in the suspension anyway, this gets you so you dont bottom out the shock and have maximum down travel.

Looking at your picture and your shock isn’t much farther up than mine is. Looks like your eyelet is just above the frame and mine is just below it. Would make sense since you’ve got an extra 2” of travel.
