question about the extended shock mounts. i am about to put them on my blazer but just want to make sure that i make the correct length. i have done the 52 inch swap, using new 52" springs with a 2" lift. also using the 1" ez lift block. i am using 14" travel shocks.
what should be the proper length to cut them at or at least how can i determine what length to cut them. thanx jeff
Measure ride height static then measure compression and droop. Determine your shocks overall length compressed and extended. With all these numbers you should be able to get it close.
I have 15" shocks and I am pretty sure I set them for 7" up and 8" down. I have about 5" of lift. I actually am going to limit strap the front because i start to bind my u-joint. I actually only use about 5" of up before the springs get flat.
Here is a couple pics of my mount. I used the stock axle locations, and my towers were already cut down so it worked out well.
Im sure someone will have a number to get you close, but its going to vary from truck to truck.
But if you want it to be right for your truck you need to go flex it out and bust out a tape measure. That way you know it will be in the right spot for your truck
