ok, i already typed up a better version of this and for some reason, it didn't post......

i have some extra driving lights, but already have plenty of lights on the front of both trucks, so i plan to use them for backup lights.

the best location seems to be on my rear rollbar, but i'd have keep the window partially down to actually use them.

i plan to wire them up so i can use them in these three ways:

1. reverse only - backup light circuit activates relay. stock and extra lights come on
2. switched: circuit always closed (on). use them whenever i want, independent of stock backup lights
3. switched: circuit always open (off). never come on, regardless of gear. for city use.

i don't need wiring help (unless you have some unusual crazy cool idea or something) but i'd like to see or hear where you mounted your extra backup lights i know some people on here have them.

I like that idea, how do you wire it?

SPDT switch :D (Do a search! ... one side to the backup switch or existing lights, t'other to hot of choice, and out to a relay.)

Mounting ... for backup use I prefer them under or in the rear bumper... I wanna see DOWN and OUT, i.e. what I'm about to hit, as well as let people know that the truck is coming at them =))

If I had a roll bar I'd mount it inside under it facing back thru the glass, but I don't so I mounted it above the plate.

i've got a few SPST and SPDT relays sitting around in my garage, along with some 3-position switches and other goodies, so i get to have some fun playing around with setups, like putting a switch i the bed area, too, for if i'm using them as worklights or cargo lights at the time:thinking: . having one switch forward and one aft can get a little tricky, not to mention using a lot of wire.

i was going for high, so i see tree branches and stuff. i wonder how mine would look in colby's location with my stock bumper.

i'm going to replace mine with LED's so that they are flush with the bumper. now, since the stock bumper doesn't have a flat face, it might be pretty killer if you got yourself a hole saw and cut some holes directly into the bumper, then put a pipe in it so that it was just sticking out a touch, then mount an LED reverse light in there. makes it essentially perpendicular to the ground, it would be real clean and look nice with the stock bumper. this would light up trees and such. :)
