Bringing this back up because it perked my interest. My questions are about the windows:

What did you do about shortening the windows? Lexan??

Here are my thoughts on the windows. Get some lexan the same thickess as the factory windows and then either re-use or buy new window weatherstripping and get at it. Also, any other thoughts on maybe doing away with the heavy rear window? Maybe replacing it with some lexan instead?
One of the main reasons I would do this is to lighten up the rear of the K5 and be able to haul a 4-wheeler and miscellaneous stuff in the back/bed portion.
However I don't know if by doing this, it would lighten the rear of the K5 any. Some things to take into consideration:
Stock you have:
factory hardtop
all the glass
K5 tailgate
rear carpet
If you did this mod you could possibly have:
smaller hardtop (less weight)
lexan glass (less weight)
K5 tailgate
portion of rear carpet removed (somewhat less weight)
pickup tailgate (additional weight)
With the K5 tailgate and roll up window in there, it would make it a tight fit for the 4 wheeler. May have to turn it sideways. Or, figure out some kind of way to remove the K5 tailgate and window and replace with something else, but then you have sealing issues.
