EZ EFI 1.0 Upgrades?

I don't have time to read that article right now, but if I knew I was getting EFI I wouldn't of gotten the dual plane. However, I don't think its worth changing at this point. Keep in mind most RPM "Air Gap" dual plane Edelbrock intakes have the large chunk missing out of the divider to connect the two sides together again. In fact it's quite possible that's the main reason they make more power than the old RPM, as that used to be a trick you could do to make more power with them with a performance engine, it enlarges the plenum volume for both sides.

Glen, when you upgraded the handheld did you have to update the software inside the ECU? Or the handheld just worked right out of the box?

You are totally right. I have the RPM Air Gap with the little window in plenum. I wonder if that's enough though?
So would I see an improvement from going to the Holley Strip Dominator that I have sitting in box in my garage right now?

I didn't have to update the ECM to plug in the handheld. Mine is on edition #3 which is the minimum for compatibility. I didn't even reset the tune, just plugged it in and started playing with it.

Based on those two threads, the consensus is that the window isn't enough...at least that's how I read it. There were suggestions to mill it down further to open the plenum, or to add an open spacer. The observed benefit seemed to be with a large open plenum.

Well at the very least I think I'll see some more top end power! lol

If you already have the intake and you are willing to swap it then go for it, it can't hurt anything. I'd be curious to see what you find out. I read a small portion of that other thread and it seems like that guy is all over the place with his plugs and ignition timing and fueling and frankly I don't trust his results when he measures them by saying he popped a wheelie on the street at 6 mph and it feels stronger. Nothing he has done was measured really, its all "seat of the pants" measurements, which aren't very reliable.

However, it's not like the EFI needs more signal at low RPM to give you more bottom end, the EFI doesn't care. Now the shorter runners are usually better for top end, even with EFI, EFI intakes are usually single plane but stock intakes usually have very long runners, like the tuned port and the LS factory intakes that have the runners up and curve back down to add length for bottom end torque. With you having a manual transmission in a truck it would be the ultimate test of a single plane with EFI.

This is definitely an experiment for my particular combination. I'm very curious what my results will be.
