has anyone done a research on these trucks. i know its a ford and stuff but from what ive been reading it sounds like a pretty good truck for wheelin, plenty of power and a pretty flexy suspension. what do you guys think of them

I remember watching a TV program that had Ford showing off their first Raptor and they ran it in Baja, right off the trailer they had all kinds of electronic fuel injection issues and could hardly keep the engine running, then after about a quarter into the run they busted their rear leaf springs in half. It's a nice concept; a poor man's trophy truck, but Baja goes hand in hand with full independent suspension as do rock crawling with solid axles.

However that was their concept "Raptor" right before they came into production, so I'm sure they straightened out their computer controlled issues just don't race it in Baja :doah:

My opinion? I wouldn't touch it with a ten and a half foot pole cuz I am loyal to the Gold Bow tie:D

i saw one on the street, looked more like a "tuner" truck, not something i would have thought of as trail worthy. i know that a "baja" trophy truck was kind of what they were aiming for.

4wheel magazines have been raving about that thing sense it came out. Personally I'd rather put all that money towards parts and build something myself. Pretty cool though.

anything an auto manufacturer is willing to make that isn't your basic "live through it's warranty period" car, I give a big :waytogo:

I was doing road work at a customer's house this week, working on his 30' Sea Ray...

he had a charcoal one sitting in the driveway.. first one I've seen..... iirc, they start around 42 g's....

Yeah I hear the new Government Motors flex fuel hybrid Tahoes are killer trucks off road. Yesss sir just makes me want to go down to my local government commisary and buy 2 of them.
Thumbs up to Ford!!! No government handouts! Still building trucks FORD TOUGH!!!!!
What is next from obama motors ? The 4x4 Volt?

Tahoe vs Raptor = apples vs oranges

Im not a fan of flex fuel because currently E85 does more harm to the environment than good. but the hybrid large SUV's is a brilliant design that was a hugely successful engineering study. It wasnt designed to win baja, it was designed to make soccer moms more efficient.

Id still take the tahoe over the raptor, a few hundred more would net me a lift kit, and some bigger tires, and id wager the tahoe would do just as well offroad as the raptor for what Id use it for.

a volt 4x4 would actually be pretty freaking cool, im still hoping they make a diesel version. the volt for the record, is probably the first example of the future of automotive transportation. yet another technological breakthrough from GM. just sayin ;)

I rode in one yesterday. Guy pulled up with one at Vato Zone and after talking with him for a while he offered a ride.

Truck is fast for a truck, sounds good too. Rides nice and smooth, and soaks up bumps great as well

shew im glad im not the only chevy guy that likes these new ford raptors haha. only wish chevy would build like a better Z71 hmmmmm maybe like a Z100 hahaha

Not my thing, but it is cool that Ford is trying to build something other than a mall cruiser. I too, think it kinda looks like a tuner truck.

I like when the car companies come out with something different... reminds me of when Chrysler was in the total sh*tter and came out with the Viper, then did the Prowler... brought them back to life...

I could tell it had some trick components in it, but for 40g's, it should.... I really don't like modern styling, plastic parts, etc... but i will admit i like the front clip on the GM pickup a couple yrs ago... most beds and cabs look like sh*t these days....

I'll take a first gen GM or Ford truck clip any day for looks... now thats some purty sheetmetal there...

A friend of mine has one--pretty sweet ride.
Google the veloci-raptor, by Hennessey; Drooooooooooooolllllllllllllllllllllllll

Too pricey to wheel...
The nonarmored VelociRaptor SUV will start at about $150,000 and go up to $250,000 depending on power level and interior and electronics upgrade options, Hennessey said. The armoring will add another $100,000 to $200,000 depending on the level of protection.

some company shoould make like a long arm travel truck. i think id look in to getting one if the price was right haha. but i mean like one capable of jumping and landing good without breaking everything in half haha. like a ifs chevy with alot of travel.

i can just see the insurance prices sky rocket on one of those trucks haha.

options list

1. air bags
2. 5 piont harness
3. roll cage
4. being able to jump 50 foot craters
5. o and the optional cup holders in the dash of course

hahahaha
