Fabricated a new switch panel to replace my ashtray

I like it a lot. Looks better than my ash tray. I may have to copy you

I was going to go that route but I did not think I was going no to be able to get everything in there with the door. I did like the idea of being able to hide it though.

I don't think it's really that fa away considering it was designed to be able to light a cigarette and use the ash tray while driving. It aleaviates having to cut more holes somewhere to. I can reinstall the ash tray if wanted. My two cents.

That is a pretty cool idea. I am having an issue with my ash tray switch set-up right now. The ash-tray travel limiting tab snapped off, and when the tray went passed its travel limit, the ash-tray tension springs fell out. now my ash-tray is flopping around all over the place. Your set-up eliminates that problem.

I had considered trying to find space on the plastic trim for the transfer case shifter to incorporate the rocker switches but it is too limited on space. Plus I was worried a foot would activate a switch.

I stared at the ash tray for longest time trying to figure out how best to utilize the space. It is a pretty good space for different configurations. I'll be curious to see what others come up with.

since I have a pickup and I still have the JC whitney headliner (that they still sell LOL), I'm going to move switches up to it. There is a spot, that I am not using and will put my offroad light switches up there...
hard to tell but on the drivers side (left looking at first pic)..
there is that big lip and will gladly fill switches...I cutout the radio spot and put my cb there. Need to get that going as well

That’s pretty cool. I thought about trying to find a overhead center console myself. The FJ Cruiser has some nice ones I think.

I just finished the wring harness for the panel. That took a while. The harness from the panel to power and solenoids is done too. Now to run the 4 AWG from the battery back to the compressor in the spare tire well in back. It has been days in the making.
