im thinkin bout swappin to the 91 front, from my 88. other than looks, does it offer any better lighting? are there any advantages, or should i jus stick with my 88 face since its in decent condition?

heres a pic of my current face:

thanks for the offer, but a guy up the street has everything i need to do the swap. if ud be interested in buyin my set up, we could probably work something out if i do do the swap

i love the 89-91 front clip, i want to get my hands on the parts to change mine over

Why swap when its going to get destroyed out on the trail eventually?

89-91 has no advantage except looks, the lighting is just as terrible..

Clean up your work area boy, damn thats a mess

Yes there are many advantages.
1: It's work to put on.
2: The head lights are more expensive
3: The headlight plugs are more expensive, and have a tendency to melt.
4: The grill components are more expensive, because people like them.

I liked my 85's grill/lights, they always worked. I've changed 3 plugs on my '90 GMC and put in an aftermarket relay system, all to try and help with the melting...

Yeah I had that problem with mine, I ended up cutting off all the plugs and made my own..

I love the 89-91 front clips... I may replace the stock one on my 74 to a newer style... but will propably just stay with the early 70's unless a newer one falls in my lap....

i just did the swap on my 87, it looks much better and the lighting is better to.

Id have to disagree with the light statement, with my experience the lighting is no better and sometimes worse. Those small lights just can't provide good light output. In the slim chance that you did get better lighting somehow, its not worth swapping a whole front clip to gain a marginal output at best...

did u use the writeup on here or jus attacked it?

Do they not teach proper english up in NOVA?

Anyways, the writeup doesnt really apply to you, thats for the older style trucks, since you have a 88 all you need to swap is the core supports out...

If you can turn a wrench you should be able to do this...

I have a friend in OKC that has your front end on a CK. To improve the lighting he did the quad lighting setup, all 4 lights on all the time and all 4 high beams for brights, looks mean goin down the road, personally think your front end is the best design, if I ever changed mine it would be to yours, prolly never happen as I have way too many other things to do to her.

I say keep the grille you got. I do think that the '89-'91 grille looks best on the K5, but its not worth it to put one on a rig thats gonna get 'wheeled on a regular basis.

I personally like the quad light setup. But more than that I love my 78 front with the big round dull lights. But it is all the same when its beat off.
