I'm gonna start on my winch mount soon (it'd be really cool to have it done before Overland Expo!) i'm buying the winch and hawse fairlead soon, I've already got a synthetic rope and i want something more than a normal hook on there. has anyone here used either of these? better yet, both? suggestions? opinions?

I know the guy that owns the company. Either or is awesome I like the flat link but have never used it. Should have bugged him more about giving me one 3 years ago I guess.

Anyway top notch product

Maybe I'm missing the point of those. Why not eliminate those and just connect the shackle directly to the cable eye.

Good question. I used to run my winch like that tied off to a d ring all the time. I left the hook in the toolbox just in case a weird need arised.
