Factory 396 1970 Blazer???

And that thread is about a '73 which had the firewall clearance to do it.
The '70 doesn't, I know from experience and lots of looking around at other trucks and information.
I've seen some pretty butchered firewalls to make one fit, too. Sledgehammers do some work!

I've seen more than one first gen K5 with a big block in it--NOT factory installed however..they will fit in the engine bay fine without beating the firewall in--IF you use a points distributor...pickups of that era had a big block option and the engine bay is the same on a K5..

I did massage the firewall on my '72 K5 to get an HEI distributor in it,and it had a stock 350...it did fit without massaging, but was too close to use that "ring" that the plug wires snap onto on top of the cap,and it was a real pain getting the cap on and off...until I made more room..

And after I did,my radio went tits up ,I guess it didn't like a sledge hammer pounding inches away from it..:doah:..

Yes the engine bay is the same, but not the engine position in all 4x4 applications, compared to the 2wd. I had no problems with the HEI, but the heads ran into the firewall. Same thing on a lot of others.
I have seen some use a body lift to make it clear the heads, but other than that, you would have to move the engine forward. And that gets complicated too.

You can't fit a BBC into a 1st Gen Blazer without firewall mods..... unless you plan to run it without any valvecovers!!! :haha:
