Factory 4 speeds vs. converts *poll*

My 90 3/4 ton suburban came equipped with 350,
hydro sm465,np241 all from the factory. It is now converted to a 454,th400,np205 and dana 60 & 14ff /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

I voted converted, but as I said in the other thread I have had two stock k5's with mechanical clutched and one with a hydraulic. I'm naked but I couldn't vote for that since I don't own anything with an automatic /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif

Actually the first time I've ever heard of someone going that direction with a factory 4 speed arrangement.

If I had 44 boggers I'd probably want an automatic too though.

Mine started out life as a TH700R4/208 combo and now am installing a 465/203/205 combo .

I wish that I had a manual, 4 speed or 5 speed, I wouldn't be picky.

I liked the 4 speed for trail riding but the mcleod clutch sheared a mounting bolt and I got tired of shifting. I now have a full manual valve body TH400 which is better for racing in the mud.

Yep, that's obvious with the big boggers you're playing in mud.

I think I'm going to build a truggy soon, and it's going to be an auto as well.

I don't much care for autos, but I'm going to try it and see how I like it.

Mine started out as a TH350/203. After my big block ate 3 different autos, 2 TH350's and 1 TH400, in 2 months, I swapped the 465 in... Now it's mech 465/203. /forums/images/graemlins/pimp1.gif

I swapped out a perfectly good 700R4/208 for a 465/205. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

I swapped out my GM Goodwrench rebuilt 700R4 and rebuilt 241 for a hydraulic clutch setup and got a '79 465/205 from a friend for free. The only other setup I would think of running is a TH400 with a 205 IF I ever got a TBI 454 to go in front of it. /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

My K10 will always be a 4 speed, I'm currently in search of a 32 spline 205 and 208 or 241 combo though.

I think I'm going to try a 400/203/205 in my buggy though.
