currently driving an 86k10 I use it mostly for dump runs and for hauling compost, manure etc. I'm getting kind of tired of unloading it manually so I'm looking into a dump bed. I'm not interested in putting one of those northern tool versions because you lose the ability to tow off the bumper and you need to hack up the frame. I'm going to look at a c30 this afternoon with a factory dump(well allegedly its factory). It's got an 8' box on it like any normal truck would. So the question is, I know the frame is different on the 30 series trucks but can I just take the hoist off of the 30 and put it on my 10? i can't justify spending the dough on a newer vehicle that aftermarket hoists are available for, so that's why I'm looking into doing this. If the 30 was a "k" instead of a "c" then I'd probably just sell mine but 4x4 is a must

Thx for the input

all dump bodys dealer installed AKA factory or you install require rear frame end modifications . also true dump truck bed/box style are to have a steel plate welded in to tie in the rear rails from collapsing in on them selfs .

why not a dump bed insert ? that's what I would do if light use and few times . but every day use full dump truck be best .

yes for lack of major fine point tech the frame is the same . but the rails are thicker on 1ton / lots of dump trucks are cab & chassis = 135" wheel base over the std cab long bed of 131.5" wheel base . the frame is stretched in the middle behind the cab from the factory .

might be cheeper in the end and faster is you look in to a dump insert . that wont effect the towing or rear bumper .

I may end up having to do the insert if my search comes up short. The c30 was a pile of rust but the dump worked perfectly. I may need about 40 tetanus shots to survive the swap by the time all is said and done. The guy was dreaming on his asking price as the only redeeming quality was the hoist. I'm going to sleep on it and see if it's something I want to take on
