So, i'm working on a 72 Chevy pickup with a big block. I'm trying to find out what color the motor was from the factory. It is currently blue, but was rebuilt at one point. How would i find out what color it was from the factory?

Until the corporate times ( 1978 ) when engine sharing was more common , Chevy engines were Chevy Orange ( red ) . Around 1978 ( new models of mid and full size cars , however downsized ) the divisions started using certain motors from each other and they were painted corporate blue .
Nowadays they are just black .
