I just went and bought brand new 72 sport mirrors and i dont know where they go on the door. Ok, on the outside probably :haha:

does anyone have some dimension so i can mount there where the factory did?

i have no pre-existing holes in my doors.

Check the Factory Assembly Manual.....you DO own the Factory Assembly Manual don't you?? :wink1:

The only bit of advice I'll give you is to remember that on many cars / trucks the mirrors are not mounted symmetrically from side to side. The passenger side mirror is often mounted further back on the door to provide a better angle for visibility... especially on vehicles with a wing-window. You'd end up blocking the view of the mirror with that extra post in the way.

With a mirror as small as the factory ones were, you need all the visibility you can get! :deal:

The factory sport mirrors look good but are basically useless for their intended purpose.

Have you got new doors? There should be a backing plate that goes inside the shell with the mirrors. You have to remove the door panel to install it. If your doors are original, the original holes should be visible from the inside. If not, I've got a template that came with repo ones I bought off of Brothers, I could try and scan it in.

I like the visiblity of the big mirrors, but without a top, I don't think its needed. That's why I'm swapping back to the original type.

i was after location. My entire truck is primer black cause i picked up this door, brought it home, welded up all the holes, did the body work on it and then when i put it on the truck i had a green truck with a black door. I then decided that calls for paint.

those big tripod mirrors are better but i like the looks of these little tiny stock ones.

I just geussed where it should go.

thanks guys.

Just watch your head and fingers on those repro mirrors when you walk by them in a crowded garage, the edge near the glass is super sharp on mine.
