can't help ya with pics, but I have seen that combo before...

nice... :D

my one bud in my early 20's that I worked with at the collision shop had one that was the midnight blue and the Yukon gold... that was a badarse combo too... pretty rare too, can't say I've seen another probably....

i found this and I'm in love lol

Mine is that midnight blue/gray Exterior Decor Package with the red pinstripe stickers, or rather it was before nearly 30 years of time ravaged it, now it is faded and peeling. I'm thinking of repainting it in midnight blue monotone, or perhaps in Summit's Royal Blue Pearl, which is pretty close and also looks nice.

ryoken i need your paint smarts! the truck has been resprayed red in the past over the factory paint i started sanding it down and this is where I'm at how deep should i go just deep enough to get rid of the red or deeper?

thanks

yeah, get the red off... whatever reasonable coat below it that is good.. preferably the factory finish.. but if the primer they laid on seems good, that works too..

remember, ton's of paint mils are bad.. it creates much more potential for issues.. usually you don't want much more than a factory paint, and yours over the top of that.. factory, some maaco job from the 90's and you scuffing it and adding another bunch of mils is not a great idea... will it automatically fail? of course not, but the % goes up that you may end up with crazing/cracking issues down the road, etc..

everyone keep in mind something very important when it comes to bodywork....

ton's of sanded edges are bad... as in that picture.. all those "featheredges" are fail points... places to react and cringe with what your putting on top.. let alone high and low stuff from poor featheredge sanding.. back in the older days of inferior products, it was MUCH more of an issue.. but it's still a good practice to follow to this day...

so it's always best to keep that stuff somewhat at a minimum.. find a layer/substrate to sand it to, and take it all to that point...

thanks i sanded a small test spot and the factory paint seems really thin so I'm just going to take it down to the primer under the red to be safe and not cut to down to metal

I've been using sanding blocks the whole time i started to get some of the feathering but most of its still there and is starting to cut to factory paint its like who ever painted it didn't spray it evenly I'm kinda at loss of what to do now should i do the heavy spots by hand then use the blocks to level it back out?

how about a machine? square palm sander is a very safe way to do it... use a x-hatch pattern...

you do plan to prime this correct? if so, 180 to 220 for that prep.. may make it go a bit quicker..

Ohh a chance to post a picture kekekekeke

haven't tried that yet i don't have any power where I'm currently working so ill have to try to find a cordless one

Well I've got a change of plans there's a few soothe where there scratchs all the to the metal on the paint and some slight rust is starting so I'm just going to go through most of the red then put a cheap paint job that way if it chips in a few years it won't e a big deal

Late to the party, but my '87 is blue/gray. Interior paint (glove box, door metal, etc) is gray, but all the trim (upper/lower door panel, dash pad, etc) is blue. Exterior paint is as shown in the brochure page as the "exterior decor package", above.

Not a big fan of the blue/gray interior scheme, it should all be blue.

Mine was all blue. Carpet, seats, dash, doors, etc. The only thing not blue are the A-pillar and headliner plastics, and the inside of the top, which was white. Of course, now that I've replaced the carpet with black vinyl flooring and painted the plastics to match the Highliner, it's rapidly becoming a blue/black interior.

mine has all gray interior with blue interior pant i started working on the rust bubbles in the door jam and found this ... :doah:
