Is there any benenfit to utilizing the factory quad shock setup on my K5 build up or should I cut if off? /forums/images/graemlins/hack.gif

Cut it off... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif...Mine came with the quads and it performs much better with just one shock at the corners...

you can run just one shock on these(no cutting needed), unless you want to /forums/images/graemlins/hack.gif

I had the factory quads when I got the K5. After a 4" lift it was handling not up to par. I put the quad set up back on (new longer shocks) and a dual stablizer and liked the difference. Just my 2 cents /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif /forums/images/graemlins/usaflag.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I got rid of it I like it better now /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Quad shocks? Quad=4? 4 shocks at each corner? That sounds expensive/wasting. Unless you just drive over those mall curbs /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Quad shocks were an option. I've only seen them on the 80's trucks but it may have also been an option in the 70's too. Anyway it gives you 2 extra shocks in the front. So you have 4 shocks up front instead of just two.

my 77 has the mounts, but i dropped down to just running two shocks. 4 just plain hurts(especially since they were all rancho 5000's...ouch).

If you run only 2 (long ones) and decide at a later date you want to run 4 (add 2 short ones). Will the 2 (long) shocks you already have still work or do you have to go buy all 4 again. /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

80's K5 include 90s and 91s...I know it's strange but trust me on this one...

quad +4 I knew that. i agree withe the rest of yopur reply though. i thought it rode rough now.

Okay, maybe I'll keep the bracket there incase the singles don't work out.

I went with only one shock instead of the quad setup, but with a soft worn factory springs, the body roll sucked on cornering. so i went back to the quad set up

Yeah i ran with singles on each side once, but didn't like the handling performance and of course the sway from side to side, so i went back to the quad setup and is better, but still wasn't "right" so i called the place where i got my lift kit from, and they informed me as to whjat kind of shock to get to help out with the ride, they sold me nitrogen gas charged shocks and it is much better, alittle firmer, but much better control.

you can put em in your webshots or you can upload em at villagephotos.com and post em directly on the thread by clicking the image button (below and right). i forgot to say you will need to right click the pic and copy paste the url from the proprties tab.
