I don't know why but every blazer I have purchased someone has hacked up the din radio install. This 1988 is a mess and I am working on fixing that up.

Does anyone have the break down of the factory wiring harness? From what I remember it was like 3 separate molded connectors or something along those lines.

The current unknown is there is a two wire connector orang and orange brown. What I believe is the orange is 12v hot all the time and the orange brown I have no idea what that wire is for.

For those who have done it right or wrong, here is a good clip with part numbers to do it right. I would not fold the sheet metal over, I would cut it nice and clean...

I can only go off the 1991 manual, but brown is the dimmer for the digital radio. It is connected at pin "E" on the light switch. The orange I don't understand what GM was doing, but there is a splice tying it into the "T/L CTSY" fuse, and the other leg goes to the upper left "batt" accessory terminal on the fuse panel, so that would be the memory. This is labeled the "digital clock connector".

I'd not believe the service manual in any case, ever, when it comes to wiring, period. Get a multimeter on those wires, should be a real easy test to figure out if the above is correct in your case.

Breakdown is thus (conveniently, these are stamped on the Delco radio housing, which I assume you don't have lol):

Dk blu and lt blu Right rear
Yel and Brn Left Rear
Tan and Gra Left Front
Lt Grn and Dk Grn Right Front
Blk is radio ground to bus bar

Note that there may be two grays...other goes to ignition switched power
Note that there may be two yellows...other goes to the radio fuse.
