factory security light staying on.

I have a 99 Silverado 2 wheel drive with a 5.3. Here recently the big yellow security light in the dash has been staying on. Typically its only on while the engine is off. Now, its occasionally staying on while I'm going down the road. It seems to be running just fine, and no engine codes. Is this a symptom of something, or just a screwed up light?

Body style change? The message center flashes security with yellow backlight.

It is telling you something is up with the anti theft system. Might wanna figure it out before it leaves you stranded cause it won't start

Mine wouldn't start one morning, and the security light was on. Had to go thru the reset procedure. Had to do that several times. Found out one of my keys (a copy) had just a little difference in the cut and would at times trip the security system.
