I searched around a bit and some people have swapped in the factory tach clusters into there k-5's. Seems pretty easy but has anyone swapped a factory tach cluster into a truck that has a gas 350 but a 6.2 wire harness? Is there any threads I missed while searching? Any idea's or advice? The truck in question is a 84 c2500 with a 350/350 combo but it has a 6.2 wire harness all hacked up to make it work.

Do you got the gage cluster with the tack?

If you do just try it,I think it sould work.:dunno:

The tack has its own wireing harness if you got it with the tack.
It will just plug into the dizzy, and away you go.

The only other thing I can think of it that if the tack is out of an older truck it might have a mecanical oil presure gage, so will have to switch to mecanical,or change the gage.

You should be able to make it work easy.

:haha: That's funny. The dam fuel gauge hasn't worked right since I put a new fuel pump in the tank. I did read on one of the other chevy forums about messing around with the pins in the connector.

The cluster is from a gas truck or a diesel truck?

If its going to be a headache to install then I'll probably sell it and install a small sunpro tach in it.

I'm assuming its a gas truck as I haven't seen any factory tachs in a diesel setup.

Deisel tachs read only to 4K rpm, they also can come with the tach and fuel gauge in one, leaving one small gauge opening for a vaccum or air pressure gauge.

that has to be a gas tach.. i agree 4k in diesels..

i had a 1979 gmc 1 ton factory 5k tach in mine.... and it looked like that..

this thing is easy to hookup...

my truck had a diesel harness (1982 2wd diesel cab)...

for tach.. you run a
power wire (from ignition on fuse block)
ground wire
wire to tach on distributor (or to tach on msd boxes)
back where tach connectors are they are labeled...

then all you need to do is take the gas wire... believe it to be light blue or brown... sorry forget but narrows it down to 2... follow traces from old one to see if you get one of those colors...
you then move that pin over to the new location....

i did it and was super easy.... just takes time and patience...

i then did the tach/fuel gauge combo... where the lil gas gauge is on lower left.. is now an air gauge... my cam is idle to 5000rpm so the 5k tach works great for me.. i got this cluster for $119 shipped on ebay a while back...

anything is doable.. just take it easy...
