I'm looking to install a factory tach instrument cluster in my v30. specifically the one from a C60. with a tach and a vacuum guage.
my truck is an 88'. does it have to be an 87' and newer one?
or will a 76'-86' fit?
what about the wiring? is the wiring connector the same and i just need to add the wire from the coil?
i havent searched much yet, so if i should have, i'll take the heat:doah:

79-up is a plug and play. Just need to wire the tach....But I would double check the pinouts just to be on the safe side.

There needs to be a VSS on the back for cruise and TBI, so you would need to make that work in the C60 cluster.

make sure its v8 you pull the tach from also .

also if you need one fixed look here. http://www.tachman.com/oldsun.htm

Hes a good guy to deal with, worked with a guy off my camaro forum (nastyz28) to make a factory appearing oil pressure gauge.

On this note, cant you just put a speedo from an 83 (i believe first year of mechanical speedo with vss output, 82 cluster did not and 84 cluster i just got does, and i assume my 83c10 has it as well). or is it vastly different? i need to try swapping the speedo over, i have both an 82 non vss and an 84 vss sitting on my desk right now :haha: Edit: just realized i have my sockets in here too.. hmmm :hack:

Just take the speedo off your truck and put in place of the C60 speedo. If the font is different, get some overlays for it.

thanks for all the advice. thats the kind of info i was looking for.
found a c-50. its an 86. the guy wants $125 for the cluster, but it doesnt have the vacuum guage. if i dont find the one i want soon, i will buy that one.

Vacuum gauges are easy to get. I have one from the 80s, and the yard where I go has couple more.
