Factory tachs

Nice, it`s about time. Hopefully it`s not a POS, the price doesn`t seem to bad, if the quality is good.

Fairly reasonable too! Cheaper than what you can buy the clusters for, at least the later ones in decent shape.

I personally have no use for a tach. It was a novelty, and the novelty wore off.

Now if someone would just re-do the clusters so that the gauges and lights were hard-wired, we'd be set.

factory can be rebuilt .

and dont forget the printed board behind is diffrent as is the white housing .

all this can be work around with little thinking.

and quality level these days on repo stuff :popcorn:

If I had the spare change I would buy the whole cluster, because in the catalog they have all the gauges, oil (mech and elec) water temp, ammeter and voltmeter, clock, big and little fuel gauges, and all variations of speedo's. I'd get the 80-up tach, a 100mph speedo, and all electric gauges and associated parts to go in my dream 2wd Blazer.

Did factory tach in my '89. Looks like it was born there.
Pretty easy to get if you shop around. Mine came out of a '86 1 ton 4WD.
Only one you can't put a tach is '90-'91 with the electric speedo. It would work but there is just no room for it with the speedo housing.

My Sub has the oversized gas guage in the right bezel location. Where are you all relocating that to if you install this Tach?

Lower left where the clock would go or the idiot light. Just need the small fuel gauge. Pretty easy to find.

It will take a bit of work to fit if this is for the '91.

The '90-91 (at least) cluster housing is completely different than the previous ones. The housing isn't cast to accept any gauge in the lower left position, I can't recall if the cluster housing has even got the holes for the contacts cast in. There are a couple of plastic ribs blocking installation of anything. Could obviously be cut out.

I am just going to get mine redone and changed to 7k
