How much should I pay for a used but working tranny/transfer case/combo. Let's say they have less than 150k but more than 100k miles and there are no known problems with either...

700R4 - ??
NP208 - ??
Both - ??

If it has at least 100k on it I wouldn't give more then $300 for both. My factory 700R4 went 104K, and my 208 went 140K before they needed there first rebuilds.

my 88 had just blown the 700 before i bought it at 180,000 miles and the 241 went a little before that. I would try to haggle him down as low as you can... just tell him there is a website full of people that have that combo go at 100k. that mileage range is right about where they let go.

the average life for a 700r4 is 150,000 miles. some less, some more. for a 208 its hard to tell, ive had one need a rebuild at 180,000 miles and the one in my current truck is having problems at 150,000, but when i got it the tcase was empty. who knows how long there wasn't any fluid in them.

the 700r4 is probably good for a core and the 208 should be good, but you never know, id give $200 to $250 for both, maybe $300

true, i got 100 for the 241 core and another 100 for the 700 core.
