10 point family cage, through the dash and with a seat bridge. Currently has front seat belt assemblies from a toyota that work.

All 1.75" x .120 wall HREW tube, fully welded with windshield bar. Direct fit for a '73, '74, or '75 K5. Any other year will require some modding to the cage to make it work.

The windshield bar is too low to run a dash pad, so if that's important you'll have to raise that up an inch or two.

I'm really not interested in shipping, as it'd have to be cut down and palletized. I will entertain delivering as far south as Seattle WA though for cost of fuel.

Man I would love to have this cage. I would have to move the windshield bar up for sure. Wht kind of mods to the dash to go through it? What mods need to b done for an 89? I will keep an eye on this post as I was planning on having one built this summer whe some money comes in.

Why are you selling it?

My jimmy has the older style floor with no footwell behind the front seats. The 'B' pillar down bars and the forward diagonal brace bars would need to be extended down about 6" or so. The 'V' brace bars would also need to be extended down some (maybe 3 or 4" because they'd land on the hump)

Getting it through the dash isn't as bad as it would seem, remove guages and bezel and notch out a section neatly, then patch it back in after. The guages and bezel and dash pad would conceal 95% unless you knew where to look. I did remove my e-brake assembly, my plan was an Import handle style e-brake between the seats...but I never got around to that.

The other part that may be a problem is my Jimmy has the full topper, so I suspect the upper halo forward of the 'B' pillar would interfere with the back of the half cab. I no longer have a half cab to look at closely enough to determine if that'd be a problem for sure though. I am also selling the full vert WS frame and topper, which you might be interested in?

I'm selling the cage because I'm building up a short crew cab with most of the parts from the Jimmy. The cage however isn't something I could easily retrofit into a 6 pack cab. It's just easier to buy more tube and build another cage to suit.

Yeah I figured the down bars for the B pillar would need to be extended. Is that as simple as welding in some sort of plug then adding additional tube? If so then that isn't too bad because there is a shop in town that does tube work. I would probably redo the bars behind the seats into an X brace anyway so no loss there. The dash bar could just be moved up for clearance with the dash pad.

Hmm I never thought about clearances for the half cab portion. That could be fixed by replacing the whole B Pillar I am guessing? edit after looking at the pics. How close is the top to the tube in the area the half cab area would drop down?

I should know in a couple weeks if some extra money is coming or not.

It's about an inch under the inside of the roof, but the 'B' hoop would end up right where the half cab ends...probably the worst location for what you want to do.

A little mod here and there is one thing, but it looks like there are quite a few mods needed to make this work for you.

Splicing tube to extend something isn't bad. The 1.75" x .120" wall tube has an I.D. of 1.51". You can use some 1.5" x .120" as an internal sleeve for any extension.

Anyways, I think in your case it'd be easier and neater to have a cage built for your truck and needs specifically.

I'm thinking I may use this cage as a base for a el cheapo buggy.

Yeah i think you are probably right Rene, but thats why I asked all the questions. Seems like everytime I find a cage for a good price its 3000 miles away or for a 73-75:crazy:

Maybe you should talk with Dustin (mr250twostroke) he lives in Wa. also and has a tube bender and might be able to help you build a cage. Not sure how far away he is from you but at least he's in the same state and has the equipment.
