Fan clutch rotation question

Question about the fan CLUTCH

can it work rotating either way?

I'm going E-fan and serpentine style. I have a new clutch from my old V-belt setup. I have a new fan and water pump for the serp setup. I would like to use the new fan and old clutch as a backup if the E-fan takes a dump.

I'm pretty sure they are rotation specific--they are different for v belt VS serpentine because they rotate in opposite directions...the fan blade will only work in one direction too ...

Does that seem to be the general consensus? I got the correct fan, but not looking to buy another clutch. It will only be for backup reasons.

@ rock auto they list different part #'s for the fan clutch depending on rotation. I can't see a manufacture making an extra part # if they would work in either direction.
