1991 K5 5.7. Idk if im doing something wrong or need a special tool but im trying to seperate the fan clutch from the water pump pulley. I took the 4 nuts out that hold the clutch to the pulley. I tried using a big pry bar on it but didnt budge, not trying to break my water pump pulley or warp it. I know the fan is bolted to the clutch but I really dont think ill need to take that out. Dont want to order another clutch to put on my new water pump. Thanks guys.

can you take a picture? I know the vortec motors have funny looking clutch fan mounting, but the older ones just had 4 studs and 4 nuts. Take nuts off and walla, done.

Is it a vortec?
I thought the vortecs used one big nut to mount the church to the water pump.
The four nuts you removed just hold the pulley to the water pump.

eh I was just burnt out from ripping the motor apart. the next day I just worked if off and it eventually came after I watched a video on youtube. DOH its not a vortec stock 5.7

Glad you got it off. Smear a little bit of anti-seize on the end of the pump shaft when you install, to avoid this next time around. :waytogo:

I've never had an issue, but no reason not to take preventative measures if yours stuck.
