:confused::confused::confused::confused: I was wondering what style fan clutch the blazer came with new?? Thermal or non thermal.
I need to replace mine,The fan spins freely after it's shut down(almost like spinning a fan by hand) and slips bad when i rev it up some, almost to the point that it's not turning. Also been hearing a strange noises in front of the engine. It don't seem loose.

If it don't matter Thermal or non thermal what is everyone else running?? I know some of you are running electric fans,I don't want to go that route at this time.:D

Thanks Mike

The thermal fans will spin freely if the engine is warmed up then they will engage/lock up when extra cooling is needed.
Does the noise from the front of the engine sound like a jet engine or at least a high volume of air? If so it is the fan engaging to cool. Should be for a short time though.

If you have AC then you will have and need a thermal fan clutch.

They were either thermal or solid.

Only non-thermal fan clutches I have seen are obviously poorly made aftermarket POS'.

The sound is harmonic seems when its cold then seems to go away although it did it when I was in town to day at op temp only time that happened and I don't have ac.

I had upgraded the dizzy to day and after I installed it I had my son fire it up for me , It was cold then, when I had him shut it down after a few seconds I noticed the fan kept free spinning.

I had him start it back up an looked at the fan,was moving ok but when you give it gas the fan slows down almost to were you could stop it with the hand without injury:crazy: Just so ya know did not try it.

Well tomorrow when you get home after driving it around and the engine is definetly up to temp, check it out to see if it has some more resistance than when you check it cold.

Is there any oil or grease on the fins of the fan clutch? If yes then it may need to be replaced.
