Are all the Chevy v8 fan's the same?

My buddy needs a fan for a late 60's early 70's 327.

Anyone (hopefully local) have one sitting around? Need fan and clutch.

Thanks!

no there a i think about 5 or 6 different ones for gm cars and trucks. there are 3 bladed ones all the way up to seven bladed ones. is he wanting what came on it oragenal or does he just want something thats going to do the job?

Something that can do the job. It is in a 69 FJ .

The shroud/radiator is pretty small, and is probably from a car.

A smaller fan would be desired, but will modify the shroud to fit whatever.

I have a bunch, can you tell me the diameter or your shroud?

Figured you would be the ticket. Measuring quickly in the dark, shroud is just shy of 18"

So something smaller that that.....or a fan/shroud combo...

A 327 of that vintage would have originally came with a short water pump and a standard fan (no clutch fan) and IIRC you cannot install a clutch fan UNLESS he swaps over to the long water pump and pulley arrangement otherwise the fan blades will hit the lower crank pulley.

So did that fan have like a really long snout?
Because I thought a fan with clutch would be longer than a fan only and would put the fan further out from the engine?:dunno:
I also have a spacer IIRC about 2", maybe 2.5" would that help anything?

I'll take a picture. Its a cluster...no real idea what's on there....but we're replacing the pump too, so now is the time to figure it out.

thanks guys

This is my short style water pump equipped engine with a clutch fan on it. The crank pulley is a single pulley, but still had plenty of room to put your hand between the fan and crank pulley. The riser on the fan hub was about 2" long.

Well hell, I stand corrected. Guess this getting older crap makes a person forget things. :doah: Hate to see how bad my memory gets in another 20 days.

I can attest it don't get any better..:dunno:
