for some reason, when my front springs flex, the fan starts to dig into the fan shroud. what would cause this to happen?

Mine did the exact same thing. I found out what it was while I was installing my body lift. It was missing the rubber bushings and plates that bolt to the bottom of the body mount. 2 of mine were gone on the passenger side. One right behind the front bumper and the other was under the door closest to the hinges. It was letting the body flex away fromthe frame.

^^^^what he said. I had the same problem. My front driver's side and rear passanger side body mounts were totally shot and the body would pull away from the frame like several inches during hard flex :eek1:

dang.. thats what i was afraid of. what is the most body lift you can get with out lenthening any lines, ect?

Keep in mind that adding a body lift also means moving the fan shroud the same amount in the opposite direction or the fan will hit the shroud all the time.

I didn't have to lengthen anything except the shifter linkage in my K5 and I have a 3 inch. Body lift that is. :haha: If you don't want a BL, just inspect all of your body mounts and replace the ones that are bad. I also had to completely remove the lower part of my fan shroud when I installed it. It runs a tad warmewr, especially when pulling a load so I bought a dual electric fan setup I'm going to install.

why do new body mounts cost more than a body lift?

Same in my business , once a part is too old and its a neccessary , or wanted part , they jack the price up .

Body lifts are cheaper as they are mass produced for many different trucks with many kits just having differering numbers , or sizes of washers and bolts .

Just a guess :dunno:

because a lift kit is a bunch of plastic or aluminum pucks and bolts. body mounts are all moulded rubber, and cost more to produce than just slicing pucks.
