Right now I have a Flex-a-Light flex fan on my engine and I accidently dropped my timing light in it and bent all the blades to hell. Timing light is ok though.

I am on a budget so I couldn't afford duel giant electric fans. So what are my options? What do you recomend?

BTW - The flex fan has cooled my engine just fine even without a shroud.

Depends on cost. Is it cheaper to buy another flex a lite fan? I picked up 2 14" fams at the parts store and ran them with a interrupt switch in case the motor got hotter than what I liked. Cost was about 100 bucks or so total. That included fans, thermostat, switch solenoid and wiring.

All depends on personal preferance and cost analysis.

just what exactly happens when a mechanical fan hits water? People have been telling me its bad, but how bad?

the fan flexes so much it can easily move a few inches.........yep I lived it years ago........right into the brand new radiator......now it has a couple tubes pinched off and soddered. Just watch it flex when you rev the engine. Imagine water for it to grab ahold of. kinda like a boat prop now, except it has no rigidity to keep it from carving into the water.

how close is your fan from your radiator? Becuase mine has a good 5in.
