by the time I caught it temp was 245 and climbing. blew the head gasket. just took 2 months to blow.
am not happy.

Dual fans, dual relays, primary fan control ECM, failsafe temp switch in head.

That said, broke the water pump/alternator belt and didn't notice it happen at that time. A) need to get the alternator charge light hooked up B) would still like a glaring idiot light to pop up when temp goes higher than what I want.

Although blown head gaskets suck
Hopefully not major damage to the heads.
I had the same issue when running dual windsor fans, they either cooled way to much or not all.
Switch back to a mechanical fan with HD fan clutch an 7 blade fan.
Fingers crossed for minimal damage

will pull Saturday, being cold in the morning I don't do anything till 1 or 2 and have family coming in town so I had to clean carpets today. will get it out though.

How was the oil, did it have alot of coolant in it
Still hoping for minimal damage
Check the head gaskets and hopefully you can see were the gasket failed

I'm wondering if I should go this route myself. Get rid of the aluminum radiator and electric fans and just go back to mechanical.

my fans are hot as soon as the key comes on now but I don't know about mechanical fan

My c10 they come on when power is on. In my Blazer it has a heat coil type thing and they'd come on around 180-185ish. I'm tackling that now myself. Anyway..

I would keep the aluminum radiator,
I went through 3 of the parts store radiators to only have them fail.
1st one blew at the drain petcock while sitting in traffic.
The second one leaked at the same spot only after getting the engine warmed up.
The last one failed at the plastic side while filling up.
I went to summit an picked up

Summit Racing™ Performance Fit Aluminum Radiators SUM-384002

It was a perfect fit for me,
I also opted to go back to a mechanical fan with HD clutch.
With winter approaching I wanted piece of mind, that an the 100 mile commute up in the Sierra Nevadas.

Any local shops that can flush out your current radiator ans check for leaks
Might be a cheaper alternative before dropping extra mulah.
Could help save on the project

Good point. I'll look or just get a new one and keep this for a spare. Hahaha

I have no experience with this shop
