I always wished GM and the other manufacturers would have offered a stock "retro" truck,(and the classic muscle cars too),only with a modern EFI engine, brakes, and suspension....and the "legal" bs like air bags ,and other things considered "nesessities" today..........................................................................................................................imagine being able to walk in a GM dealership and buy a "brand new" ,built in 2012, Chevy 4x4 pickup ,identical to say,a 1957 Chevy truck or a '66 K-10,or the first and second generation Blazers...or a '69 GTO,Camaro,or Chevelle...though the price would be obcene, and probably more than a mint original or restored one would cost.it would be really sweet owning one that you know has ZERO rust lurking anywhere, and the chassis dont have 40+ years of metal fatigue to worry about.................................................................................................The SSR was a flop,it looks like a Studebaker, cant carry anything,is pratically useless as a "truck",and costs WAY too much ,for what it is...I bet they never sold that many,I think I've seen maybe 5 of them in my area since they were introduced...The other thing they introduced that looks like a PT Cruiser but was supposed to look like a '41 Suburban isn't a hot seller either..I think its homely, they sure could have picked a better "retro" truck to copy that that thing,IMO.............................................................................We need a good old school straight axled GM from years ago, with some modern upgrades...I would think they would be very popular with the older guys like me,who miss vehicles that they could actually work on,and prefer classic good looks to todays bland generic looking trucks...face it,the supply of decent repairable old trucks is drying up fast, and new laws against re-registering "modified" vehicles will only discourage more people from going thru the hassles to restore an old truck too...
