I had thought about that, but I will only run the hummers w/39's off-road, and to/from the trail. I need to keep my stockers for DD duties.

I run 16.5's

What would it take to run the hummers as is? AFAIK just swap the hubs. All else should be the same on the D60.

What about with the 14FF? Would just swapping to the dually hubs work? With disk brakes? Need new axle shafts?

How much would the hubs stick out past the edge of the rims with stock HMMWV rims and dually hubs?

As you can see I am not very knowledgeable on this subject. But If all it takes is swapping the hubs front and rear I might be up for it. Or dually hubs in the front ans smallish spacers in the rear.

Anyone out there have a definatitive answer to these questions?

A little research on CK5 should provide the answers. I think it's just swapping hubs on both axles.

Nice 2,222......

I am researching it now. I know the wife would be happier if I could run the hummers without breaking the bank.

I have a line on a dually D70 rear with 3.73s and Detroit brand new. Could work I think.

A happy wife is a good thing.

Also have might have a couple 60s coming up boys. Start saving your $

I need 8 lug fronts.

Got 60?

Spent some time in the junkyard this AM with Arq of "Arq's D60 Locating Service" ;) THANKS man!

Got this front 60 out of a 1975 Dodge W30 Dually with service body. It's fulltime 4wd - no locking hubs, has 30 spline drive slugs. :doah: Has 5/8" studs and 1-1/8" nuts.

Think the 'case in an NP203 (full time 4wd) with a PTO and PTO Gearbox to bring the PTO shaft to the front of the truck. Should I go back and yank the case and PTO stuff? Big cast iron manual trans too...

This 60 may go up for sale depending on how things go next weekend. I may need it for my project. Maybe I'll go 4wheel steering to make up for my long wheelbase...:D

I dunno what gears it has. I spun the input 3 revs to 1 rev of the axleshaft.
The ring gear has numbers but nothing resembling a gear ratio. I'm retarded and forgot to write the numbers on the ring down. Looks brand new. Something like this:

"8 8 74 DANA longnumber longnumber 39-8" then a ways farther on it has "881" reading the other way. No tag on the cover. Mebbe I should go look at the rearend. :dunno: :what:

Brian to run the hummer rims as is you have to get a wide dually rear end like a Dana 70 or the wide 14FF not the C&C. Once you have that you put your SRW 14FF hubs on it and the track width will match that of a Dana 60 DRW front. Oh ya since the only thing changing is the WMS not the overall width of the dually axle you use the stock shafts.:D If you have any other questions we can talk I have researched this quite a bit. You do not have to switch the hubs on a DRW rear axle but it will still have the 3" narrow rear track.

That sounds right.

I have a C30 DRW C&C rear 4.10 (that I will prolly use)

DRW D60F Dodge drive slug front ?3.73? (that I might use, maybe for rear steer or trade for F*RD front)

Know where there's a Dodge DRW D70 too ?3.73?

SRW Tan K30 rear 14BFF ?gears? (that I prolly won't use, maybe trade for 4.56 gears for C&C)

DRW Blue K30 D70 4.10 (that I prolly won't use)

DRW Blue K30 D60F 4.10 (use or trade for F*RD)

Do the 14BFF and D70 hubs interchange?

All this is up in the air. Hopefully do some trading with my brother and maybe readymix so we all get what we need. :waytogo:

That C&C rear axle is WAY narrow. To run the hummer rims you need the Axles from the Blue K30 as is or with SRW hubs on the rear either way will work. What are you gonna put that C&C axle in?

I hope to put it in the (chopped, no bed like willyswanter) rear of the blue DRW CrewCab K30 I'm gonna pick up next weekend. Inboard the rear springs if I have to. The idea is to run dual Michelins and stay as narrow as possible. :saweet: :woot:

I'd prefer a SRW hi-pinion F*RD front diff, maybe trade/buy off my brother when he goes Mog axles...or I have other possible trade source:D

Don't want the hubs, wheels, etc. sticking out of the tires in the front.

I see I forgot you where gonna run a chop and bob. Ya a DRW front and a C&C axle will put the outer rear tires and the front tires directly in line with each other:D .

If i run the DRW front with SRW wheels, won't it thrash the wheel bearings?

Have the C&C rear under a CUCV temporarily right now...with factory size tires it fits under there, like that guy ?dremu? on CK5 with the "stealth" dually. Has 3/4" between the tires, the 11.00x16s are 2" wider, so I need a 2" spacer between the dual wheels. It will actually come out wider than SRW but not too wide, clearance won't matter, cuz I won't have a bed, unless I get too close to the frame. With the terrain out here and the way the truck will be built/driven, I'll go over or THRU what I can't fit between. :D

Ya I understand about the front and wheel bearings. With michelins you will prolly not need a spare anyhow. A SRW 60 with a C&C 14FF that will be a nice and narrow rig:D .

Bwahahaha!

Gotta run - going exploring over by the Colorado river off 78 down Black Mntn Rd in the 4runna this afternoon. If I break or get stuck I'll call, haha! Actually, I'd prolly have to have my mom come out in Andy's K10. That would be a kick!

Trip pics.

BLM blocked the route to the river. No swim.

Was fun and scenic (and hot) anyways tho. Had to crank the A/C full til the sun went down. Ben loves it out there. The 4runner coninues to impress me with it's versatility and ability stock.

CLICK on the first pic and then click on the little box in the bottom to blow it up for full effect. Gorgeous.

I am actually towing around with the idea of converting the 350 to Propane and run 2X30gal tanks.
