Just as the title says, when i hook up my utility trailer the signals go fast. I have a good chassis ground, and the trailer works fine on other vehicles.
So it cant be the trailer...

Maybe a new flasher relay?

and no..the trailer doesnt have LED's ;)

It's the flasher relay. The extra load from the trailer lights is heating it up faster than just the trucks lights do. It's a pretty common problem. I think I've seen "HD Relays" for trailers. IDK if they work. Personaly I just leave it alone. If it's flashing, then it'll get people attetion.

Get the HD flasher. You are overloading the factory flasher. It will burn out.

There are solid-state flasher relays, that don't change blink speed with load. Cost more, like maybe ten bucks instead of the two or three for a regular one, but for a tow rig, priceless ;)

yeah, i was gonna comment on the electronic units as well, i have been running one for the past 8 years, i personally think they last longer, and as mentioned, they work well with added lights like on a trailer.

basically this is another vote for the electronic flasher (solid state) :D

Hmm interesting this came up... on our way over to the coast last time we had a blow-out on the trailer and had to run the flashers for a good hour or so.
From then on I've had flasher issues... even w/o a trailer hooked up my right flasher is a lot faster than my left flasher (and no there aren't any bulbs out, that's the first thing I checked)... you guys think it's a similar problem?

Pretty sure the same flasher unit is used for left and right, so I'm thinking the wiring is corroded or burned on one side. The resistance affects the blink rate -- more resistance (i.e. lower load) = slower blink.

I'd check the lights to see if one side is materially brighter than the other.
