241 from a 90 blazer should be vss correct? How can I tell the difference in the hole in the case when I go to look at it? Just check if theres a tone ring or gears in it?

90 is VSS, should look like this:

The big difference is the electrical connection where the speedo cable would be on the older models. But 1989 was the only year for the 241 with a mechanical speedo.
