I am looking to hook up a fast idle solenoid (from an a/c system) to up the idle for my onboard air.

I was wondering what year, model, and trim trucks had them?
I have searched rockauto.com and I cannot find anything

What is the technical name for them? fast idle solenoid, high idle solenoid?

Thanks guys

It is actually a deceleration solenoid and was used on most carbed engines into the early 80's. It's purpose was to set the idle while the solenoid is energized and then when you shut the engine off the solenoid would close the butterflies completely to keep the engine from dieseling.

"Idle Stop Solenoid" or "Anti-Dieseling Solenoid" was the term most of the parts catalogs used for those back in the day...most carbed vehicles in the 70's had one..

Huh, I'd assume that this was an option on your year. It was for my '74, so I got a factory bracket and a new solenoid, and I'm using it for exactly that, an idle bump for the York.

Anyway, your donor could be anything with a similar style carb, e.g. 4bbl Quadrajet or whatever you're using.

HTH.
