  1. Fastrack Top
  2. Snap Top
I am looking into getting a soft top when I get back from Iraq and was wondering which manufacture to go with and what type of top, FASTRACK or the SNAP TOP?

Which one do you like better and what are the pro & cons of each.

I like the fact that you can completly roll up the sides and back of the SNAP TOP, so your view is not obstructed.

But I like the FASTRACK design because it seems alittle more secure (like you can have a soft top and be secure anyways) it just seems less likely to come off. Down side is that you can not completly roll the sides and back up you are left with the corners down in the rear....

I just want to get the best quality top for the money since they are kind of pricey and i want to be happy with what I get some some inputs would be great thanks.

Also who all makes soft tops I know Kayline but who else besides Stephen at Offroad Designs can you get them from? Offroad designs wants $560 for the fastrack......I found a place that sells the same top for $505 is there anyone else out there that sells soft tops?

Thanks for your inputs

I've got a Snap Top that is new to me but probably 5 years old. I have lost a couple of snaps, though they are easily repairable. I wouldn't worry about the design making a difference with security, mine is only attached to the bedrail with four screw each side and it isn't going anywhere. In my opinion though the Fast Track looks cleaner, and the lack of snaps probably means less maintenance.

i've had both tops, although the snap top i had was on a scrambler about 10 years ago. the snap top was a kayline, so it wasn't just some piece of junk, but i like the fastrac much better. the fit of the snap one wasn't that great, and even though they are easy to replace the snaps would break if you weren't really careful. the fastrac i got is a specialty top. fit and quality are both top notch. i've driven it at highway speeds with minimal noise and no problems staying attached to the truck. as far as where to buy, i got mine off e-bay, brand new and only $440 shipped to the door. it took awhile to find one for a full convertible, but typically i noticed while searching someone sells a 76-91 top about once or twice a month.

I like my fastrack. No real problems with it. I do wish the side windows rolled up though but removing them is not hard.

not to hijack your thread but i have a question about the fast trac tops, when one is installed can you put the hard top back on later?

and i hope you get back from iraq in one piece, im in the militery also.

Yes. They are attached with screws into the top of the bed rail, and around the cab. Easy to install and remove.

I really like my FastTrack..... (full convertible)
I picked it because it was the least number of holes I had to drill in the Blazer. (It is fully removable to put the hardtop back on.)

The corners don't bother me at all when I go Safari.

Don't know if that helps or not

I was thinking about going with the fasttrack, but how bad is it compared
to the snaps when you go safari.
does anyone have any pics ?

thats what i plan on doing, using it for the summer time, not sure if i`ll get it this year or not, hopefully everything works out and i will

I love my FastTrack. I rock it all year long. No issues yet.

Here it is safari style at OBX.

Not anymore... thanks though.

The damn clearcoat is flying off from the top down, and the rust is eating away from the bottom up. :o

Hopefully Seattle73K5 makes it back to the states soon... he hasn't been on since november of '06 right before he left...

Hey Seattle73k5 if you manage to stumble upon this did that guy ever make the loooong trip home w/ your blazer towing his car? That was insane!

im building a 72 truck/blazer conversion and want to have a custom top made. does anybody know if you can buy just the fast track material so i can have a top made.
