I have not bought a new socket set in years- until I borrowed this from one of my buds at work. After using it I was on the S-O truck the next week.

First off, I use 1/4" drive stuff 99% of the time at work. I've got to carry whatever I'm using, so keeping it light is always good. We occasionally run into 12 point fasteners, so sockets need to be 12 pt or spline. Finally, because aircraft are designed with weight in mind I rarely need a socket bigger than 9/16". Basically, this is perfect for what I do for a living.

For comparison here it is side by side with my old "go to" Snap On flex head and a short spline socket. The big plus over other brands is it can be used with included short handle, a longer Gearwrench, or a normal 1/4" ratchet. Its height fits that sweet spot between a Gearwrench and a regular socket.

they've been out for quite awhile iirc.. I remember my snappie guy yrs ago getting them in... it's neat.... nice to have for tight confines and such... I should actually consider em with the boats..

really need to get a snappie or mac truck coming in there.. haven't had a tool truck in 4 yrs now.. :doah:

matco made something like that years ago, except the sockets were splined instead of having the hex on them. i bought all the 1/4" drive stuff and then it got discontinued...

Yep, I almost bought this exact same setup. I still might too.

110RTSM?

Pretty slick setup.

That's the same thing in metric, mine is 112RT. They also have 6 pt sets and SAE/Metric 3/8s drive sets.

I think I've seen those, the sockets are externally splined, right?

And 'cause I'm a whore here's one of the sockets on a normal ratchet

i have a set o those in 3/8 sizes. i have all the sockets, but no ratchet. it came in the tool box i just got. not sure what to do with it.

I'm going to add that to my list of Snappy stuff I want to get...

Also, Lowes has a Kobalt version too for those on a budget...

They also have an insert that allows the ratchets to use standard sockets too.
