In my truck (tbi 350) now I use Castrol GTX...I am going to be using GTX as well to break in my rebuilt 454 when I get around to installing it...once the motor is broken in, I will be using Mobil 1 with the Napa Gold (read: Wix) filter

I to am in the Valvoline and mobile crowd and have had really good luck with them. On the other hand I would stay away from Havoline, that stuff sucks, and you would be better off useing your budies old used valvoline insted.

People who know use Valvoline, or so they say. I've been useing both Valvoline and Havoline. 10/40 in the winter and 20/50 in the summer. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I used the semi-synthetic castrol....

Before I used standard 10-30 castrol...

BTW Walmart's brand is made by quakerstate /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

i use castrol high mileage, 10-30 in the winter and 10-40 in the summer. /forums/images/graemlins/burb.gif

I use the local parts store's house brand, which happens to be Valvoline in disguise.

Personally, I'd rather use cheaper oil and do more frequent oil changes instead of running more expensive oil and doing LESS frequent oil changes. Some people think that expensive oil gives them more leeway to lengthen the amount of time between services. Not changing your oil on time is the best way to kill your motor.........

Mobil 1 in the newer motors, anything but Pennzoil or Quaker State in the old one.

i use Pennzoil 20W-50 in mine...lots of people dont seem to like it but i think all oils are pretty good...never gone over 3000 miles between changes...thats the important part

I'm a Valvoline for the Blazer/ Mobil 1 for the murdercycle fan, but Napa has been on the shelf lately...packaged by Valvoline for a lot less.

i use Castrol GTX 10w-30 whith fram oil filters. I have had great luck whith them but i realy think the most important thing is not going over 3,000miles on an oil change.

Don't use Fram filters, brother. They're built like crap. Spend a couple more dollars and buy a Purolator or Napa Gold filter next time. Your engine will thank you.

I use the Quaker State 4x4 blend. 10w30 year-round. Also, my truck has used basic Fram filters since 20,000 miles, and it's still running clean and strong with 160,000. Doesn't burn an ounce of oil between oil changes. I don't know what everyone's big problem with Fram filters is (yes, I did read that link posted a while ago regarding filter comparisons). I say go with what's worked for you.
