I looked around to see of we had a thread like this to share useful Parts lookup links and didn’t find one :dunno:

We all have our favorite part go to sites so let’s share’em!

These are my main go to sites when looking up parts for GM vehicle repairs, engine swaps, project hardware, etc.

Delphi is a major automotive supplier around the world. Chances are they are the supplier that built the thing you need or they make one to fit. The vast majority of GM sensors and electronics are made by Delphi. They also have a great catalog with cross references to and from the OEM part numbers with images and often engineering layout drawings. Its fun to drop your late model VIN (say from the 2000's to current) into their catalog and see how many things Delphi actually supplied

Dorman....These guys have it all too. So many parts lines are nothing more than reboxed Dorman parts. Dorman is da'man! :waytogo:

Spectra is also an OEM supplier and best known for having the best replacement radiators in the industry but they also have many other great things like fuel pumps, sensors, throttle bodies and more. Unlike AC Delco and Dorman, many of Spectra's parts are made in Canada instead of China, eh. That is not to say Spectra doesn't build anything in China because they do have some things manufactured there

Not only an online catalog for axle shafts, stubs, yokes, CVs, U-joints, balljoints, etc...they also have a full line of stuff you'd never expect like engine gasket sets and bolts through their Victor Reinz brand

Think of McMaster-Carr as the worlds largest online hardware store that will sell you one oddball bolt with an inverted counter angled foglotus whizzle nut to thousands at a time. They have full diagrams with engineering drawings and downloadables into CAD drawings too. This is where Dr. Seuss himself buys the materials to build his things. MC makes Fastenal look like the McDonald's of the fastener world. Would you like a Fastenal ink pin to go with your $89 box of screws?

Sources for Delphi connectors, terminals, cavity plugs, etc.
(the nice old Dephi connector catalog on the Delphi site is no longer :dunno:)

Piss on going to the local part supply store or even GM dealer to find one terminal for a Delphi weather pack connector. Order a whole package of them through one of these guys for the cost of one. Perfect source for engine swap wiring bits

Let's keep adding more. There are tons of good parts look up sites besides the run of the mill Tacozone, O'Reallys??, Advancevato and sites loaded with BS sales deals and popups that only want to fill your inboxes with more spam. I must admit though, the RockAuto Parts cat is pretty decent :waytogo:

I was looking at Victor reinz head bolts the other day and was wondering how I never heard of them before, so they are from the dana spicer group?

Yep, Victor Reinz is a Dana brand just like Spicer is and I believe it always has been. I remember seeing VR gasket sets in the 80s as a kid hanging out at my dad's shop. I believe there is a line of Napa gaskets that are just reboxed VR gaskets

One of the old parts stores I worked at that was in business since the 40's had Victor gaskets piled up in the cellar, many that fit vehicles from the 30's to late 60's..
One day a customer who owned one of the oldest salvage yards in town called looking for a Packard straight 8 head gasket, said "I know you'll have to order it,so I'm giving you advance warning so it'll be here when I'm ready to put the head back on..

I went down in the cellar and found several Victor head gaskets that was the correct part number--I billed it to the customer and sent the driver to deliver it--10 minutes later the phone rings, its the mechanic, saying WTF did you find a head gasket for this thing in stock?--here in town"?...
"Yup--WE have three more in stock if you need another one!"..:D

He showed up at the counter a few minutes later and asked if he could go look at the "old parts"--he was amazed to see what was still in the cellar and attic,I have to admit I was too,and he ended up buying many parts, like timing gears for a Hudson straight six he said "no one in the USA seems to have" he'd been searching for ,for a long time..

I have never bought anything online, but I use Rock Auto's catalog to look up parts--they have a wide selection of brands listings lumped together and good descriptions..I haven't used too many others, other sites have too many banner ads and irritating steps to go thru to look things up..

I haven't used them yet but my tire guy in Moab told me about this place and they look to have quality adapters and stuff for good prices.

Really good site for engine tools. I have bought a lot of OEM quality and better Ford diesel tools from them.

Great place for parts and axle tools. I have bought a bunch of Ford Super Duty axle tools for work. Made in Montana and great service.

Summit and Rock Auto are my favorites.
I keep forgetting to look up stock replacement parts on Summit.

I ruined the XJ shaft I was gonna use in my project. Rock auto has 1 for $191. I search Oreilly's, they want over $300! I do some google searching and then I see Summit sells a stock replacement XJ shaft for about $109
