I may be looking to sell my crewcab K30. I'm looking at coming back from this god forsaken country and I'll have alot things that I need to spend money on and don't have the money needed to put into a truck right now. The body is nearly perfect. No rust. The only thing wrong with it is the motor took a dump, being over here I don't know what's wrong with it. All I know is that its got a serious oil leak, it ran when I bought it but it doesn't now. Here's the specs:
1987 GMC Crewcab, SRW, longbed
6.2L diesel, TH400, 205, 60 front 14ff rear with 4.10s and a gov lock.
Front winch grille guard is removable, reese 5th wheel hitch. I believe it has a 4 inch lift on it.
interior looks good from what I can tell. It has bucket seats and a center console.
I have never seen this truck in person. All I have to go off of is my dad and brother in law for the condition.
I paid 3000 for it so that's what I have to get out of it.

body looks real nice, interior looks like it needs some TLC but looks like a good base to start from

I don't understand how you can expect to get your money back out of it if it took a dump after you bought it and is no longer running? I think you should prepare yourself for a loss on this one. I'm not saying to give it away, just expect people to try to talk you down quite a bit because it doesn't run.

I was told the motor had a timing problem and an oil leak. That may be all that's wrong with it but I'm not there to figure it out. I bought the truck as it sits now. These trucks go for a whole lot more than this when in good running order. I really like the truck so if I don't get what I'm asking I'll just let it sit till I can afford to fix it myself. I just hate to see it sit for so long...

I still think your going to be hard pressed selling for that much as a non-runner. Setting the timing would cost $50 if your friends/family could get it into a diesel mechanic. The oil leak would cost $200-500 depending on what it needs and could be taken care of at the same time. Then you could ask market value and get your money back or possibly make some money off of it as a runner.

Personally I wouldn't pay much more than $3-4K for that truck after it was running good based on what I can see in the pics, then as a buyer I would subtract what I think worst case to fix it would be ie new motor installed by a profesional.

I know I've seen them sell for $10K+ in excellent condition (1991 with newer clip, perfect rust free body, perfect paint, perfect interior, 4L80E, 454 TBI, ect). Yours would need some paint and interior work before I'd put it in the excellent condition catagory.

If it were closer I'd buy it and put a Cummins in it. Make a great work truck for me :D. Too bad diesel is $4.75  and it's probably 700mi away.
