Fender Trim hole pattern

Hey all, I just scored a front fender fo the Jimmy in excellent condition but it came off a C10 without the trim. What is a good way of transferring the hole pattern on to this fender? I was thinking of trying tape but the margin for error is pretty significant. How precise do the holes need to be? Kinda like cutting a diamond when you get a good replacement part.

I’d lay tape on the old fender and poke the holes in it then transfer it to the new fender.

Tape placement will be the hard part but the top line and turn at the front have the body line you can line the tape up against. The lower rear piece will be the hardest.

For that lower trim maybe use a long piece of tape that goes across the wheel opening to the front trim to get it lined up? You could get the vertical measurement between the bottoms of the upper trim to the top of the lower trim so you get the rear end of the lower trim tape placed right.

For the lower rear piece I’d tape a few sheets of paper together. You’ll find that it’s hard to get a straight line with tape whereas paper you’ll notice any wrinkles. Line the top of the paper to the top of the body line and let it over hang at the rear of the fender. You can mark the back side of the paper with a pencil where it over hangs at the rear. Then you could use the side of the pencil lead to rub over the holes for the lower trim. Just another option.

I ended up making a paper pattern that seems to be easier to line up.

I notice you have a few wrinkles. Cut the wrinkles with a razor blade and tape them together so it fits better. Other than that it looks good!
