I'm getting ready to move from New Jersey to Texas. Working on getting this truck squared away for my trip. There seem to be a kick that I thought that was coming from the transmission. The whole truck would jump. Took it to a transmission place. He said come get your truck replace the speed sensor and TPS so that's what I did. Still has the kick. Took it back to the transmission shop he took it for a ride hooked up some computer. He said that it's nothing to do with the transmission. The engine has a miss. the cap, rotor, plugs and coil are all new. Has MSD wires they are only about two years old. when I hook up to a computer there is no code Any ideas on what I should look for? Thanks a lot

Any Bosch platinum spark plugs in it ?...seen those cause mysterious "dead cylinder" troubles and misfires, they seem to hate Chevy engines..

No codes showing up or check engine light ?..

It could be a intermittent short in a main power wire going to the alternator or ECM...some later models had wiring harness issues, they rubbed against the dash or near the firewall and would ground out intermittently...one van a friend had around 2008 vintage had the harness "sawed" by an upper control arm and it took several different garages to give up on it,before he finally found the issue--local dealer's service tech told him just where to look, said its not uncommon..

did the fuel filter in about 6 years ago.

ac delco plugs is what was recommended to me. The cap and rotor are standard automotive. Wires or MSD. Coil is also AC Delco.no codes or check engine light. do you have an idea where to look for this wire? Thanks

1998...have you checked the crank position sensor and wiring?

is nothing to do with the transmission. There is a miss on cylinder three. With the exception of the distributor everything else is new. Could it be low compression in that cylinder?
