So i am going out today to pick up a whole wack o parts. those include 1 ton rear leafs, not sure what the front are they are 3 leaf pack, but they also come with a 4" block, when i measured them all up the front's with the block came to about 13" tall, and the rears about 12-12.5". now if i install this how much lift will it give over stock? also the rears are 54" so i think they will fit into my 86 1/2 ton jimmy. any insight would be great. also coming with a 3" body lift that i think i will install. anyone who has a 3" body please let me know about your experience with it and what needed to be done and everything. also getting a np 205 completely rebuilt mated up to a sm 456 completely rebuilt aswell. some apc racing seats,gm 14 bolt FF with brand new 4:10's and a 3/4 ton 10 bolt with brand new 4:10's both diffs have been completely rebuilt and aren't even fully back together. a new tailgate with glass, odds and ends like new Chewjoints and stuff. but what i really wanna know is if and what i need to to get all this susepension under my 86 Jimmy 1/2ton. thanks, sorry its so dang long.:eek1::doah:

yea i agree never do blocks up front. as far as a body lift, i ran it on my old Z71 and it worked great for what i needed. alot of people say not to use them but if your just going to have it in the mud then i dont see why not.

ok so i have everything now and i can measure up everything properly. i do also have some 8" springs that were on the front of a truck but i don't know if i would need to block the rear to make up the difference then. does anyone know how much more a factory 1 ton leaf will raise up a 1/2 ton jimmy?

You will need to move the rear hangers rearward to use the 1ton 56's. I got a 2-3 inch boost in the rear of my Suburban, but I also used the 1ton spring hangers which were a little taller than the stock parts.

you might consider a shackle flip because it doesnt sound like your going to but new springs

i am open to a shackle flip, how much do they cost? anyone know the shipping to canada? also would i need anything related to the steering components if i use my 8" front leaf springs and the 1 tons with blocks out back? i probably do just wanna know what i can get away with. i am on a budget right now with x-mas and all.:doah:

do a shackle flip in the rear, use the 1 ton springs & hangers and get a set of zero rates. 4" of lift from the shackle flip, 2" to 3" from the 1 ton springs & hangers, and 1" of lift from the zero rate. so your looking at 7" to 8" of lift in the rear. if it sits higher in the front remove a leaf or two from the front springs and that should make it sit level

if u need to save money but want to do a shackle flip, u can make it from ur stock hanger, a lot of guys on here have. my brother did and then when he got enough money he bought one from www.diy4x.com
