I'm almost ready for paint on my 74 K5 Blazer...But I need help on what to do with the rear 1/4 panels...
I have rust above the rear fender wells...I've put POR 15 on it and it is sealed.. Has anyone tried to fill holes with fiberglass? Short Hair? I realize this is a shortcut to replacing the metal..But I'd like some input

I would weld on patch panels. You can get them from lmc truck, classic truck parts, goodmark, ebay.Fiberglass could pop out from the vibration and you will still need to do alot of sanding.Have you ever seen a import with the body kit molded to the body?It looks good when it first comes out of the body shop but as soon as they hit a few bumps it will crack right up and seperate from the body.Thats just my veiw on glass others might say different.

I dont know how capable you are, but he rear quarters are not "that" hard to change out if you have decent tools and a little patience.

might be worth it if you plan on keeping the truck.

just my .02, but being a body guy, i have have good luck with glass work, check out my 91 burb,... anywho, how bad is the rust>? is it through the inner panel? i use a number of diffrent things, napa now has a new type of body filler that will flex, and not crack.
i would cut out the bad metal, sand blast and self etch primer over the bear metal on the inside, then use chicken wire, cut it to fit inside and hold on the inside and long hair glass it to the inside of the panel. you can see the rocker panels on my burb that i did that to.

it really comes down to how good you are with tools, and how far you want to go with it.
